In an effort to try to minimize the risk to everyone, below please find PYHA’s COVID-19 protocol. We thank you in advance for your assistance and cooperation with these rules and guidelines.
Health Check App for CURE ARENA
Please complete the health check on your phone and present the green "Go" screen to the attendant at the door upon arriving at Cure Arena: COVID-19 Health Check App
PYHA has implemented a health check process through the app TeamSnap. Every PYHA participant must complete the health check through the app before every PYHA event. Anyone who has not completed and passed the health check before any PYHA event, will not be allowed to participate in the PYHA event.
Please continue to fully follow rink protocols including getting your temperature taken, wearing masks and social distancing. Sanitize hands as soon as you come into the rink and as soon as you leave. If a player’s helmet is off the mask needs to be on. In addition, bring your own water bottle clearly labeled. Do not share water bottles or other equipment. Please wash your players equipment including mouth guards and water bottle often.
Response Procedures for COVID-19 Symptoms and Exposure
First and foremost, if you do not feel well or show any symptoms of COVID-19, please STAY HOME and seek medical advice.
If a PYHA player, coach, manager or family member tests positive or learns that they have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 or is symptomatic, please email our COVID Coordinator (Igor Roitburg – email@example.com) immediately. PYHA expects all members to disclose positive tests immediately, follow all PYHA, NJ Department of Health and CDC protocols and guidelines. Any violations may result in suspension or removal from the organization.
PYHA needs this information as we are required to notify the NJYHL, our PYHA membership and the rinks where the player has been. This notification will include the team the player, coach or manager is on but will not include their name.
Should Contact tracing be required by the County DOH, PYHA will provide the TeamSnap Health Check records and our master schedule to assist in their efforts.
RETURN TO PLAY
The following address return to play scenarios:
#1 -- IF YOU HAVE TESTED POSTIVE FOR COVID-19
If a player, coach or manager tested positive for COVID-19, they cannot participate in any PYHA events unless and until they have a doctor’s note clearing them to return and the Hockey Director has reviewed and approved the player participation.
In addition, the team will be required to postpone all games for a period of time as follows from last known contact:
- 10 days (without testing); or
- 7 days if everyone on the team tests negative (so long as test is taken on or after day 5)
#2 -- IF YOU HAVE COME INTO CLOSE CONTACT WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS COVID-19 (INCLUDING SOMEONE IN THE HOUSEHOLD)
If a player, coach or manager has come into close contact with someone who has COVID-19 but has not tested positive themselves, they should remain home and quarantine for a period of time as follows from last known contact:
- 10 days (without testing); or
- 7 days if they test negative (so long as test is taken on or after day 5)
The player, coach or manager cannot participate in any PYHA event unless and until the COVID Coordinator and Hockey Director has reviewed and approved their participation.
#3 -- IF YOU OR A MEMBER OF YOUR HOUSEHOLD IS SYMPTOMATIC
If a player, coach or manager or a member of their household is experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms, please do not attend any PYHA events. The player, coach, manager and/or household member experiencing the COVID-19 symptoms should get tested. Do not attend any PYHA events while waiting for the test results.
If all tests come back negative, please wait at least 24 hours after the player’s, coach's or manager's symptoms resolve before attending any PYHA events (if only the household member was symptomatic and tests negative, the player may return to PYHA without any further delay provided the player remains asymptomatic).
If the player’s, coach's or manager's test comes back positive, please refer to #1.
If the player’s, coach's or manager's test comes back negative, but the household member tests positive, please refer to #2.
Per NJ Department of Health, “Close contacts” are individuals who were within 6 feet of a COVID-19 case for a prolonged period (10 minutes or more) or had direct contact with the infectious secretions of a COVID-19 case (e.g., were coughed on). Walking past a COVID-19 case or just bein in the same building does NOT qualify as being a close contact.
